President Donald Trump takes a lot of heat in the mainstream media for the use of his Twitter account. He’s unfairly been called “unpresidential” and “reckless” for casting the liberal lie factories to the side and going straight to the people. Well, now the President is setting the record straight about his use of social media…
Here’s the real deal, per Daily Caller:
President Donald Trump claims he doesn’t actually like using social media but only uses Twitter to expose what he calls “fake news” in a Saturday tweet.
“I use Social Media not because I like to, but because it is the only way to fight a VERY dishonest and unfair ‘press,’ now often referred to as Fake News Media. Phony and non-existent ‘sources’ are being used more often than ever. Many stories & reports a pure fiction!” Trump tweeted.
Trump’s Twitter account has been touted as “a force, a newsmaker, an agitator, an American political phenomenon,” by Politico and has “shocked and traumatized those individuals on the receiving end,” of his tweets.
Trump has called out the “fake news media” many times over the past year, including outlets like CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, and The New York Times.
Predictably, his comments set off a Twitter firestorm from both sides of the aisle. Liberals, Democrats, and swamp RINOs were quick to criticize the president, while everyday Americans came to his defense.
Here’s more, per Fox News:
During his first year in office, Trump has used the social media platform to announce new policies, pressure wavering lawmakers, battle the media, rally support for his agenda and otherwise steer the national conversation.
The forum, though, has come with pitfalls for the quick-to-type president who’s seemingly feuding with the media, Democrats and even some Republicans on a daily basis.
Some in his party have not been shy about expressing displeasure with his tweeting.
“I’ve been pretty candid with him and all of you that I’m not a fan of the daily tweets,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters earlier this year.
Last week, however, McConnell told reporters he’s “warming up to the tweets.”
“Regarding the president’s tweeting habits, I haven’t been a fan until this week,” he said.
See, even ol’ Mitch McConnell is coming around to the President’s use of social media. Make no mistake about it, this isn’t some flash in the pan trend. This is the new media and all future presidents will follow Trump’s direction.
