Linda Yaccarino, the chairwoman of advertising sales at NBCUniversal, released the statement on Friday during an NYC event with other advertisers.
“Marketers have said, ‘We will not be part of the NFL if you continue covering it,’” Yaccarino said, noting no advertisers have pulled their ads yet, though brands have suggested that could change.
“The story has morphed dramatically,” she added.
The President also made himself heard in regards to the issue, and ever since then the NFL has been struggling to keep their arena seats full and their profits booming.
Aside from his opinion, the popular belief, as per various polls, is that Americans, fans or not, are not interested to see their country being humiliated just because Kaepernick or anyone like him felt like it.
A September poll stated that 64 percent of the surveyed are convinced athletes should stand during the anthem.
